Has anyone made Rybka 4 or Chess Assistant run on a no-Win computer?

    Hi everybody,

I am considering acquiring Chess Assistant 11 with Rybka 4 but I own a MAC computer. I already have Parallels for MAC running a Windows virtual machine where I use those programs that I still need which are not available for MAC OS.

My question here is: Has anyone tried to run Rybka 4 or Chess Assistant under a virtual environment? (VirtualBox, VMWare, Parallels, etc).

Please note that I am not considering the performance handicap, I just want to know if it works.

    Thanks!

I am not sure if that IBM computer used a commercial version of Rybka. High end IBM computers use their own architecture (PowerPC), which is not compatible with the one used by home computers (Intel x86).

In a virtual computer running along side your regular mac would be slower and would lag, your best bet is trying to run them under bootcamp.

It is a shame to install a windows virtual machine on a mac! If you need windows programs, you buy a windows machine; the great advantage of macs is their superb operating system. This is what you pay for.

On another hand, what is wrong with Stockfish for instance?
