I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but Google hosted a Q&A session with Garry Kasparov, and then posted the video online.

The Open Encyclopedia of Chess Openings (OECO) is an attempt to operationalize Kasparov's concept of combining human intuition + computer calculating power (see 26 minutes 30 seconds).

Combining human intuition and computer calculating sounds a reasonable idea.
In many areas science, medicine and engineering do that now in research.
