Has anyone read Kasparov Teaches Chess (1986?)???
I'm trying to find a review of it online and can't find any opinions! Surely some chess.com members have something to say about it. I would very much appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

Yes I have, and I have just spent 10 minutes trying to find my copy so I can answer your question better as I have not read it in a long time! I can't find my copy but I do remember thinking it was not that good a book . I think Kasparovs skills are in playing and not in explanation - from memory I didn't find the book to be that instructive, I'll see if I can find my copy and give you better examples of what I mean!
On a side note, what is it you are hoping to get out of the book, or where are you trying to improve? Perhaps I can recommend other books instead?
Well I just had the simple thought that he is considered the best player by many, so the book must be amazing. It seems like it should be a solid book that discusses different topics of play, different phases of the game, etc... Although Bobby Fischer teaches chess was kind of a let down since it's just a simplistic "find the mate" book.

It's a great book. I prefer it to "Fischer Teaches Chess" because there's good explanations in there and good advise. It's definetly worth the buy- if you can find it. You may find one in e-book format somewhere, but you'll definetly be on Google for a while.

Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess isn't written by bobby fischer, the poor guy didn't even give permission for his name to be used for the book. I find the book total " ½&#£+* " by the way.
Nonsense! It's just a matter of the preconceptions you bring to the book. So, ok, yes it is total @#$%! if you were expecting insight into BF's razor sharp game, or some complete treatise on learning chess by Bobby F. The title leads you to think that... and yeah, it's a disappointment.
But IMHO it's a very good begginer book with a misleading (but attractive) title...if it were honest it would have been called,
One Simple Essential Chess Lesson
-- that Bobby Fischer mastered long before he had adult molars
Many books promise to teach everything, TRY to teach everything, and present so much (usually good) material that beginners are often completely overwhelmed and never make it past page 5 of chapter 1.
BF teaches chess just hammers home the back rank mate theme. By the time you've finished that book, you've learned about back rank mates! It really teaches them quite well. The monomaniacal emphasis on them is a bit strange... I know after I read that book I thought every Bobby Fischer game surely ended in a back rank mate. But its a fun quick read that teaches one thing well IMO. It's a chess book people actually finish... which is saying something.
