I just saw a listing for this new chess clock. Looks like a pretty good deal for the price. Does anyone have any more info?

Well, chessgames.com looks really like it is the same as The House of Staunton.

The web page designs are all the same and they have the same products for sale, including chess sets.

The Omcor clock is made in China and sold out of Mexico.

When I first found it on The House of Staunton web site last week, I looked on the internet and they seem to be the only ones carrying it.

My concern would be if the clock will hold up or not.

Also at that price range the DGT North American seems to be more of a sure thing.

I guess time will tell. Smile

Pun intended?

I don't understand why there is a need of special clock to play 960. What I am missing?

Some timers will generate Chess 960 positions for you.

ah, I see.... TY

Is there something remarkable about this clock? I haven't seen it yet. There are plenty of timers designed and made in China. With each one you'd have to learn how it works - why do that if there are already good clocks available?

At the price of about $45 I think I'd go with the DGT North American too as somebody else mentioned.  Aside from the 960 feature (which I wouldn't use) what is the motivation to get this one?  Are there any other features I am unaware of that it does better than other clocks at the same price point?

I'm hoping DGT will release a lower priced version of the 3000 (without eBoard functionality).  I really like the DGT NA, but the 3000 is a clear improvement.

As for the Omcor, I wish someone would buy it and post a review.

Hello,

here is the Website for OmcorChess http://www.omcorchess.com/

https://www.facebook.com/gametimer960. If you have any questions about particular functions of these clock there is a contact form on the site.  There should be some demo videos going out shortly. House of staunton offers a Deluxe set http://www.houseofstaunton.com/omcor-chess-set-combination.html. The clock was very well recieved at the Mexican Chess open.

The operator's manual isn't clear (to me) on how to set delay or increment.  Does anyone know how to set either or both of these features?

OaktownChess

I purchased the clock and will try to use it for the first time today but haven't been able to figure how to set the delay feature.  Please help if you know how to set the delay. Thanks!

In the Spring of 2014 the USCF sales guide mentioned that an Excalibur Game Time III clock would be coming soon. Well Excalibur was already out of Business and the Game Time II's, which were once a popular clock in the USA, have been discontinued. I've often wondered if this Omcor clock is supposed to be the successor to the Excalibur Game Time II. Maybe , with the disappearance of both the Excaliburs and Saiteks from the budget minded chess clock market. this Chinese/Mexican Omcor clock is just trying to fill the niche, that the two afore mentioned clocks once had. Things are different now than they were 10 years ago. Serious tournament players will easily drop a 100 bucks on a Chronos or DGT 3000. But casual home and café/coffee shop players won't spend $40 bucks for any clock anymore b\c they are content to just use an app on their smart phones. Probably the only market for chess clocks less than $50 is scholastic chess and parents wouldn't recognize name brands. The Omcor looks like I fine scholastic clock to me.

need a tutorial on how to set the delay function.
