ever since I saw the chess set in "Searching for Bobby Fischer" with the red pieces I wanted one.  I also saw red pieces in some "chessbase" advertising but I can't find anything that looks as nice.  Does anybody know where you can get a set travel or home with the red pieces?

Somehow I think he means red one side and white the other, how do you reckon you would play a game if all the pieces were red?

Here is a link to a very nice heavily weighted, well designed, red plastic chess set.  This is also a small set, the king is 2.875"

thanks, i have found several but they all seem to be very high gloss and i want the matte.  the pieces i saw were on the cover of chessbase fritz box off their software website, so i know they are made.  they were matte red (blood red) and matte black.  kind of retro. but i want them.

They are a deep, blood like red. That swatch wasn't very accurate.  I have a set, so I'll post some pictures for you when I get home from work.  They are not glossy.

I have a blue and white set. Not glossy, very cool. The board is recycled tyre rubber. My 4yr old loves them!

How about getting a wooden or plastic set and painting them yourself? You could have any colour you want then!

You could even paint faces on them! Happy smiley ones for the pawns, worried looking faces for the kings, and evil grins on those cursed knights!

Sorry about the delay.  Here are some pics.  I mixed the red pieces with black pieces like your looking for.  House of Staunton sells them as red & White or black & natural(tan).  Maybe they would mix the red & black if you asked.
