I'm in the midst of Chess Strategy in Action, John Watson's sequel to Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy.  Great stuff, but slow-going (I'm lucky if I can make it through 10 pages in a session).

Currently I'm reading Silman's Complete Endgame Course authored by Jeremy Silman.  It's a decent book, but I'm having difficulties finding time to read it.  The endgame mating patterns it displays are sometimes necessary to review OTB, which I do not always have access to.  Regardless though, a great read!

The same way you learned stuff in school from books.... read them. That is how you learn from books. Sometimes it may take a while to find a book that really speaks to you, one that really connects with you, but they are out there. I've spent many years amassing a library of books that were presented in a literary style that clicked with the way I learn. It's a matter of trial and error. Be on the lookout for book lists too, like on Amazon.com. You can check out reviews and see what titles come up again and again. There is a reason why certain titles show up all the time, it's because they are good.

You must of done well at school!!! I'm surprised you can construct a coherent sentance.

Anyway, I'm currently reading,

'My System' by Nimzowitch - Chapter 4

and

Are you a positional chess genius? - which is a puzzle book based on... you guessed it...positional chess.

Is this "How to be a positional chess genius" for advanced players?  I want a positional chess book, but I'm far from being advanced. I'm more a beginner moving slowly toward early intermediate.

Would this book be too hard for me? If so, what other positional books would be appropriate?
