Adaptive problems

Has anyone experienced problems using adaptive mode for CM?  The problem that I'm experiencing is a complete wild randomization of lessons when I'm trying to use "more training options."  If I select a criteria such as rating or particular lessons, it will correctly pick the correct lesson for about 2 lessons or so, but then just goes wild with lessons I've not selected.   Also, if want to train with lessons I've not made 100%, it will pick the lessons I performed poorly on, and then it will immediately select lessons I've completed perfectly!

Basically, I don't think the adaptive (or selective) mode works correctly in "more training options."   (I submitted this error back in January, but it still has not been resolved).

Yes, thank you for reporting this. I have just tested this and it does give me lessons against the criteria I set. This issue will be forwarded on to our technical department to examine.

thank you, i have been noticing this too.

Let me say that Chess Mentor is AWESOME.  So my comments above do not reflect the content of the lessons for those who may be deciding to subscribe.   If you want to get better I recommend subscribing to CM.  It has been a tremendous help in my learning to play chess better.

Thanks Patzer24 for forwarding this on to the tech department.   If this was resolved it would make an already incredible program even better.

I couldn't agree more with Pawn_mower. Chess Mentor is a bargain. For the price of a couple of lessons, you have CM at your beck and call for a whole year. The selection of courses--and of lessons within those courses--is amazing, and it keeps increasing. It has raised me above a plateau I've been stuck on for years, and I'm still climbing. I can feel it in my play; I can see it in my results.

I've noticed the same problem with Adaptive that Pawn_mower has, and now that's going to get fixed, too. Better and better.

I came back to "beta-test" the adaptive mode in CM under "More Training Options" .  It still appears not to work as it should.  I have noticed that if you click "next lesson" it will go sequential, but if you click "skip lesson" it seems to work better.   Therefore, I assume that the "next lesson" button does not have correct logic in the programming to make it adaptive.   I would like to leave this to the experts.

Again, I say all this with the upmost respect for Chess.com, the BEST website for chess ever.   I have no intention of canceling my subscription because CM is the BEST.

Everyone in tech support has always been professional and courteous... but help! Tongue out

Kind regards,

Thanks for updating the Adaptive fix-it request, Pawn_mower. As a CM subscriber, I'm very much looking forward to that fix, too. Great program!

Hmm, I am not able to reproduce this bug Pawn_mower. Can you please provide specific details of the bug and the exact steps you took to create this bug. Any information you can provide on this will help us in resolving this. Thank you.

Hi,

Here's an example I found this am.  Thanks Patzer24 for looking into this!

As I analyzed the problem, what I'm reporting seems to be focused on the scoring filter.

1. CM main menu--> click "More Training options" --> "Solving Mode:" Adaptive--> "Lesson Pool:" 0-95% (lessons I haven't perfected) or 0-45% (lessons I haven't passed)--> "Course Pool:"  Basic checkmates and Intro to tactics" --> Begin Training Session.

Pop-up CM screen.

2. Lesson: "Fatal Attraction"  Last score 70% (so far, so good.  Appears to be OK) --> I solve the puzzle--> click on "next lesson"--> "Bishop Center Counter Trap" Initial Score 100% Last Score 100% --> click on "next lesson" --> the course again brought up Initial score 100% Last score 100%

2a.  I noticed that if I don't solve a puzzle and keep clicking "next lesson" it will pull up adaptively with scores < 100%.  It's only when I solve a lesson that it will stop pulling up scores I haven't mastered.  At that point, it seems to default to lessons I've done perfectly!

----

This is a concrete example of what I'm observing.  It seems that the  "refining training options" page works for the first couple of lessons or so, but then it seems to breakdown soon after for some reason.

----

**I've noticed this seems to happen with the sequential mode as well.   If I choose specific lessons but filter to lessons I've performed poorly it will pull up the first lesson correctly, but after I solve that one and click "next lesson" the next lesson shows a score of 100% as above.

Thanks for your help

Ok, this problem should now be fixed.
