Dear all,

I have a question on the problem in the subject.

There the goal is to reach h8, via maintaining the distant opposition and outflanking the Blank king, without ever allowing him to obtain the opposition.

I don't understand why move 12.Kf5 is correct: from what I can see, if Black plays ...Kh7, he gains the distant opposition (he is within the rectangle, of all White squares, f5 - f7 - h7 - h5).

Any idea why my reasoning is wrong?

Thanks in advance for any comment!

Andrea

It seems your reasoning is not wrong but this move is the only try to make progress and therefore should be correct.
