Hello chess.com members. Today I would like to show you an opening I recently discovered. Here are the moves
Hope you enjoyed!
Was this played before?
Not sure if its sound, but it looks cool!
Just what I was thinking.
Fritz says it is slightly better, but a human would quickly crumble. Just get ready to use it.
6...Qa3 seems to get the queen out. Black is up a piece and pawn, or am I missing something?
He can't play that because of Nc4.
I guess this is the danger of giving moves without the continuation.
Nc4 blocks the bishop, giving black Qa6, where there are no good discoveries for white as far as I can tell.
Also, if 6...Qa3 7. Nb5 then Qa5 saves the queen and defends c7.
Why the hell would Black play Qd4? That's just bad on simple principle. Nd7 is MUCH more appropriate.
It wins material.
I'm sure it does, and after Bb2!, the Queen will be completely trapped after a few moves. So no, it does NOT win material.
Obviosuly he didn't see that. Calm down.
Someone called this crap the Rieger- Simon gambit. There is even a survey for it in an old Chessbase Magazine (number 38).
Black's best is most probably the same as in the Budapest Fajarowitz: 4...a6!
In the CBM article, Rieger gives 5.d3, but after something simple like 5...Nf6 6.Bb2 g6! 7.Nc3 Bg7 8.de4 Nbd7 (or just 8...0-0) Black is just fine.
4...Nd7 and 4...Nf6 are also OK, and mentioned in the article, with inaccurate analysis.
4...Qd4?! is not good, as after 5.Bb2 Black cannot really take on b2 (the analysis in CBM is not very accurate, but still white gets more than enough for his investment).
5.Bb5+ is less good: 5...Bd7! when 6.Bb2 is now just wrong, and taking on d7 results in equality.
Parts of it are good and original, but they aren't the same parts.
Opening moves reminds me of budapest gambit!
according to 365chess.com this opening scores 55% win for black and only 18% win for white
Dude, in my analysis did the queen ever get trapped?
After 4. ...Qd4 5. Bb5+ Nd7 6. Bb2 Qxb2 7. Nc3 a6 B. Bxd7+ Bxd7 9. a3 Bf5 10. Ra2 and the Queen is dead.
This is incorrect due to the fact that a simple 5...Bd7 would save black's game because after 6. Nxd7 there aren't the amount of pieces needed to trap the queen AND after 9.a3 black can play the simple 9...Rd8 and if 10.Ra2 black is winning after 10...Bg4 11.Nxg4 and 11...Qxc3
13...Rc8? is bad. Black could play 13...Nf6, 13...g6 or even 13...Kd7!? when he looks OK. However, first 7.a3! is good for white, and second, 6...Qd4?! is simply too greedy.
Maybe even 7.Bb5+ Nc6 8.Nxc6 a6 9.Nd4+!? is also good, but given the strength of 7.a3 or 7.a4, it doesn't matter.
As Pfren said, black's best is 4...a6. This is actually easy to understand because Ne5 signals white's intention to play for the Bb5 tactic.
BTW, this line (sans Qd4 which is weak), was played before on ICCF and white lost.
This is what happens when non super-grandmasters try to 'invent openings.'
I didn't say I invented it, I simply said I discovered it.
