Like a taste tester, I try any opening that sparks my interests. The Meran defense is one of them, and I want to say what I think about it so far. I have only learned of it by playing it (never have I read or watched anything on it). 

I like it for black. The position is quite startegic and calm, and nothing wild is inside the story of the game in the opening. I enjoy the solid qualities it brings as well as its simpleness. Here is a recent game where I used it:
