Aggressive Response to 4...Nf6 in the Scotch
i dont get people who are down around my level trying to recommend positions to players who are 500+ better than them. Gavinator, Jetfigher why dont you both learn to play better chess before hadning out advice?
I can play real well, its just sometimes (quite often when I am handing advice out) That I overlook something, or am half asleep like I am right now, but yeah, I screw up somewhere along the line.

I've noticed that everyone claims to deserve a higher rating than they have on this site.
Allow me to quote one of my older posts:
''''Discard your alibi
What's your alibi for losing? You must have one; all chess players have some standard excuse. Seems even the greatest of masters needs an alibi, so you're in distinguished company. One of our leading american players-- let's call him Smith--- always wins a high place in the USA tournament. Smith enters with the hope of winning but he never does. When he fails he points out he was in poor physical shape, he'd been working too hard; he'd had little rest and training before the long grind got under way.
A stranger hearing his tale of woe for the first time might inquire, ''Well, why didn't you go to the country for a few days? Why didn't you rest? Why didn't you do some training?'' But such questions would be naive, the alibi is more important than the fact, indeed, the alibi creates the fact.
By invoking his alibi, Smith shields himself from the consequenses of his anticipated failure. He also neglects any constructive steps to overcome that anticipated failure, The alibi is protective yet also destructive.
In your own case, your alibi prevents you from improving your game. It prevents you from finding out why you lose at chess''
Luckily I will provide you with the real reason for why you lose at chess: you're not russian like I am.
The book is ''why you lose at chess'' by Fred Reinfeld, a wonderful read, for any fellow russians that are interested. It deals with the psychology of playing chess.''
When you start blabbering about how you deserve a higher rating all you're doing is making light of everyone elses accomplishment. Nobody goes ''ah, he is actually a strong tournament player''.
You're not fooling anybody. you are WEAK. Throw away your alibi or continue being weak, it's up to you. I repeat, nobody on this site except perhaps for your friends would agree with you on your playing strength.
I don't claim to be underrated, I actualy feel my rating represents my strength as of now, I said I can play well, I just invaritably screw up at some point, so am looking to fix that that way I can say that I am underrated.
This site's just impossible to gain rating. Alexlaw has stated before he thinks I'm around 1400-1500. People on this site also always abort when they're black, which is kinda lame, the server never lets me abort because I aborted one time due to me having to leave for dinner, and now it never lets me abort.
Helzeth, I have been meaning to ask you this for a while... Can you teach me the ways of the Russian?
You could never be russian. You refuse to discard your alibi.
You also play such an unsightly opening.
Damn Soviets,
thats why you lost to ROCKY, and why you lost the COLD WAR, and why we beat you at Hocky and why Fischer beat you at chess. I'd Rather be an American any day of the week. You Soviets in your. F-in Gulags sipin' Vodka, and watching people freeze while listening to thier confiscated radios, won't even tell them why they are there, and what they did wrong, and what to do about it, and what they need to discard before you release them back into society.
Damn Soviets. Damn Communist Bastards.
Soviets are FTW, they were killing America in the cold war, America got lucky as hell, they won in the space race, they dominated ches, they got vodka. Rocky was an American propoganda movie, that's hardly a valid arguement.
Gavinator -civil war?
This entire argument is stupid. the only reason the cold war happened was because of ignorance and fear, on both sides. Obviously, Russians are better at chess than Americans, speaking in general terms. Jetfighter, you make Americans look cocky and ignorant.
Americans can be just like Russians can be.
If I remember correctly, you are the one who requested advice on openings then argue withe players who are substantially stronger than you trying to help.
I think that is a fine example of how Americans can be cocky and ignorant.
the setup that instinctively pops into my head is doubeling the rooks on the open d file and a bishop on e3, perhaps going to c5 in an attempt to make d6 a weakness. lets see here:
can't really get it in, bleh.
I think the c6 plan is bollocks though.
