Well, the problem is what you posted was NOT the Ruy Lopez, it was the Giucco Piano.  It is not a shame to mistake the name of your opening.  And yes, the Giucco Piano is a nice opening also.

I like the Bird, although it is a totally different beast than either of those openings.  And if you want to know why, I'll tell you, and then we can play a round of it with both colors.

Your variation of the English switched to a QG.  The English is good for its flexibility.

The effectiveness of the Bird is that you get to fight for e5 off the bat while activating a kingside pawn that will be helpful in fighting for initiative in that area of the board.  You can also control the square with d4 or Nf3, but then you have to later move the knight to activate the pawn.  It is a reasonable choice that can be led up with Nf3 and then b3, g3, e3, d3, d4...you have quite a few choices!  It really depends on what you want to accomplish in the opening.

uritbon, in King's Gambit white has to play 4. h4. Black's pawn chain is limiting the development of the bishop, which is limiting the development of the rook. You have to play it before he can play h6.(if he plays 4... h6, just take on g5, showing the h6 pawn to be pinned)

My favorite is the Scandinavian Gambit.

It's theoretically unsound to accept it, but they always accept it anyway. Usually, they don't know how to play that sort of line and their development is awkward and stilteld.
