"Best" is an adjective that can't be applied to such a bias matter. What kind of play do you enjoy? Attacking, "king-scalping" chess, or slower games. Or somewhere in-between
i prefer attacking.
as the great boxer jack dempsey once said, "the best defense is a good offense"
I would reccomend the Dutch Defense. 1. d4 f5. Here are the 3 lines and main ideas.
The Classical Dutch:
The Stonewalll Dutch:
The Leningrad Dutch:
my response to d4 is always d5. It seems to work for me. after that, i tend to make it up as i go along.
I agree with MN94XD, try the dutch. If you like the Sicillian for e4, the Dutch is similar, as it creates an immediate imbalance. The major difference is that the Dutch weakens the kingside a bit.
I like the stonewall lines myself. Creates a very solid front, and good attacking chances on the kingside.
Yeah, the Dutch is awesome in my opinion. Some lines of the Leningrad remind me a bit of the Sicilian in their counter-punching potential.
i have tried to dutch recently. I haven't done so well, but i have definately noticed an improvement in my last few games with it
what is it? i like to play sicilian against e4, but with d4 its useless. so, what do u guys think the best response would be?
