Hi all,
I have a nice opening repetoire as white, but with black I tend to have a mish mash of openings I play but I don't have a solid repetoire which is relatively easy and thematic to learn, where you understand the ideas in the opening rather than just memorizing lines and lines of moves. Does anyone have any suggestions for just such an opening for black please?
Thanks,
Jamie.

Caro-Kann against 1. e4 (play the opposite castling lines to get wins out of this opening) and Slav against 1. d4 and 1. ...c6 vs 1. c4. Similar structures and solid but counterattacking play. I never looked back to any other black opening I tried after picking this.
I finally beat my dad at chess!
