black v the london system

ive been struggling against the london system. does anyone know of an opening system that generates good counterplay for black?

The London system leads to a Black advantage after 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bf4 c5! 4.e3 Nc6 5.c3 Qb6! 6.Qb3 c4 7.Qc2 Bf5!

thanks, i was trying to avoid d5 immediately to avoid transpositions into a QGD. are there any lines involving an early g6?

There are Bf4 variations of Kings Indian Defense

Expertise's line has made getting out of the opening very easy for me. It's easy to understand and I can get right to middlegame ideas without even looking at theory. Mickey Adams is who I watch for games.

Also quite playable: delay the development of the king's knight to go for a quick ...e5, for example 1.d4 g6 2.Bf4 Bg6 3.e3 d6 4.h3 Nd7 5.Nf3 e5

Instead of delaying the KN development (say you don't want to play 1.d4 g6 2.e4 for Black) you can pull it back from f6 to d7, which allows a quick ..e5 and ..f5.  I saw this novel approach in an obscure game a while ago and decided to adopt it for myself.

I don't see it. a3 doesn't prevent b5-b4 since it's pinned to the rook on a1. And 8 moves is a bit early to call it game over no?

2 Bf4 is suppose to help white deal with the quick queenside pressure by black, instead of Nf3 white uses the tempo for the queenside if need be.

2.Bf4 might be a slightly better move-order but Black still has many routes to equality and if White is a bit careless with moves afterwards, Black will still get an advantage. The London is best reserved for positions where Black has, for example, already committed to e6 or g6.

Which do you think is the better choice for white if he is wanting to choose one or the other - the London, or the Trompowsky  (and possibly the Pseudo Trompowsky along with the Trompowsky despite 2...f6)?

I wouldn't choose either, but would recommend the Torre unless the opponent plays d5 - Nf6 then it's probably better to go for a more normal opening.

Ay suggestions if you play nf6 instead of d5 first move?

As usual, I feel like a noob reading your posts because I don't see why white would be in trouble.

But I've put the position into an engine and it gives it equal.

So maybe can somebody explain why white would be worse here?
