And a game where black appears to be playing seriously:
Here's a game apparently from an actual over-the-board tournament:
Wow, where did you get that game? I would want to see the reasoning and annotations. Maybe there was a reason behind that.
Pretty obviously the two players have agreed to a draw in advance, but they are just playing out some moves for form's sake. Here's another draw of that type:
Here is a Bongcloud game between hic2482w and I. We ventured into an unknown variation of the Bongcloud.
What should this new revolutionary idea be called?
Maybe the Bongcloud hic2482w Queenside Counterattack.
I have added the Bongcloud Variations to the list. I will reorganize them when we reach L99. Feel free to lay claim to your own variation!
Actually the hammershlag would be a good addition as that occurs frequently.
L76-1.f3 d5 2.Kf2-Hammershlag
once a guy killed Nigel short in couple of blitz games in ICC.there is strong rumor the play was Bobby fischer
Bobby/someone was using f3,kf2,kg3 in most of his games and still beated a player like Nigel
so this opening deserves some attention:)
I doubt that Bobby Fischer would play such opening moves.
More likely it was someone using an engine and trying to 'cover up'.
I agree completely with your annotations. Although I might want to add, instead of focusing so many of my pieces on defending against your king penetration, I should have focused them on helping MY king advance. I would like to congratulate you again, for that masterful display.
On a side note, I've held a BC tournament at my local chess club, and hopefully a few new variations will pop up that I'll be sure to post.
I look forward to that! Me and my dogmatic annotations
The first game has finished!
Feel free to annotate this game, BM One is a close friend of mine and would like analysis.
here i used it in this game (but the guy got discd and timed out)
would i hav won? +any tips on BC strategies?
Tip #1: Resign early.
Impossible. Due to the nature of the bongcloud, your opponent is sure to resign before you.
Here's the second game from the tournament, a really tight thriller!
L52-1.d4 d5 2.Bg5 Kd7-Anti-Rich Counter
Everything looks sound (except for the L54 Indian Bongcloud, which doesn't contain enough early king development, threatening to leave his position cramped at e1). Definitely enough here for several volumes of new theory. Eventually, of course, you'll need to cover the system for black as well. Just for starters, I've enjoyed great success with both the Erik the Red-Eyed Defence 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Kd2! and its close and nearly irrefutable cousin, the Scandi-Bongcloud Queen's Counter-Gambit 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nc3 Kd2!!
I may have stumbled across the early pioneer of this opening. I recently posted this game in another thread about short games, but your thread has made me realise the historical significance!
Lindemann vs. Echtermeyer, opening queens pawn versus kings pawn 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5. Now white wanted to play 3. Nc3 but touched accidentally the bishop c1 and set it to c3. As penalty he had to move the king.
White should have stuck to his opening principles, develop the king instead of grabbing material.
Indeed. Things may have turned out differently:
And feel free to join the only group discussion on the Bongcloud!
Hey dueds, the group is finally here!
