ive been playing chess long enough to know that your opening dictates the rest of your game. the only problem is that ive only been tought one opening(queens gam.). i want to  learn new openings and  the ideas, tactics advanteges and disadvantages behind them . ive been to chess databases but the only show moves  and none of the other things i want and need to know. can anyone tell me of a site or book that will simply tell me the ideas, tactics, advantages and disadvantages behind different openings.

I recommend finding annotated games by strong players using your opening of interest. Also, any book that focuses on one particular opening should have what your looking for. The annotated games I recommend first though because they're free and give a wider variety to choose from.

Try Yasser Seirawan's Winning Chess Openings.  Very readable, good introduction to every major chess opening and several minor ones too.  He explains the theory behind each opening as well as some traps not to fall for.

You can also grab Pandolfini's Traps and Zaps books to find some good zingers to hit young players with and keep from falling into some pitfalls yourself.
