Here is a different question. What are the downsides to playing d4 Nf3 c4 move order?
It limits your options heading into a benoni structure, and 1. d4 d5 2. Nf3 c5, while not bad for white, is annoying.

Yes Pellik. The third is what I am trying to reach, the open Catalan. My comment was that I think this is a little more uncomfortable for a black player trying to get into a nimzo. Anyway, if the only downside to d4 Nf3 c4 is black playing c5 on move two, then I think that might work for me. I played a few OTB games with the open Catalan, and even though I'm just learning it, the light square bishop is giving my opponents fits.
One thing I'm a little unsure about is when and where my dark square bishop moves. Any help with this would be appreciated.
