Closed Catalan

Recently I've taken up the catalan and I get pretty playable positions with the open catalan, but if black doesn't take on c4 we get the closed catalan positions and it seems very difficult to prove an advantage.  I must be doing something wrong as the open catalan is supposedly better for black than the closed.  So how do you deal with the closed catalan?

~Thanks in advance

well i'm playing catalan setups, so I can't really avoid it.  I just need to find a good response to it.

Develop and smash through with e4. Either that or let Black smash himself.

Fascists!  Tell them you will play whatever the hell you want, and the worldwide chess community stands beside you!

do you have any sample lines?

Leesong

try a g pawn push followed by a rook lift and swing the rook over to the h file.  The mate threat may induce g6 weakening the dark squares around the king.
