The avoidance of certain Opening or defense can be secured by the correct move order. The Queens Gambit is move that evolves around the d4,c4, Nc3.There is nothing wrong about that move, neither has a weakness but it encounters many defenses as black  has Slav,Semi-Slav,King's indian,Benoni,Budapest etc.My fellow Chesplayer who assist me,dreaded 1 defense, against that d4,c4 move order,no other than my favorite defense against the d4,c4 move,The Albin's Counter Gambit. He hated my guts for it.So being innovative and not tied down to the standard moves of the Queen's gambit. He change his move order completely. But before we see his completely different move order to avoid The Albin's Counter Gambit.Let us see my game of the Albin's Counter Gambit. This defense is being use by Gm A. Morozevich today.

[D08] Albins Counter Gambit

Now that he dreaded the albin's counter gambit He change his move from 1.d4 2.c4 to ,or now he moves 1.Nf3 2.d4 ,Since the Nf3 controls the e5 square, black could no longer move the Albin's Counter Gambit.

I'm currently playing Morozevich's old favorite against  the Queen's Gambit, the Chigorin defense.  Have you tried that out on your 1. d4 chess compatriot?

I myself play d4 often.  This is one I will watch for and play myself if the situation dictates.  Thanks

1.d4 2.Nf3 is a very common move order in queen pawn games.  I really don't think it's out of fear of the Albin Countergambit, however. Tongue out

Not according to my database. Although to be fair my statement is just a reproduction of an author.
