Defences to the Parham Attack

hey Gavinator if you look at any of the games from the current Tal Memorial, you will realize your statement that the Ruy is a draw is complete BS.

The french is great if you like to draw, which most people do since they play Ruy.

Its funny you should say that considering, my Chessmaster engine says white's best game with the Parham is only a draw...dumb to only play to draw, especially with white....it makes me wonder if you are on drugs or something...

The_Gavinator

My houdini, the strongest engine in the world, gives white a win with the Parham...

The_Gavinator

And jetfighter that's real smart, say the Ruy Lopez isn't drawish by giving games from the strongest attacking player of all times, that's real freaking smart there...

Ben_Dubuque

actually Gavinator it is because they are ATTACKING PLAYERS. if they play the Ruy then it must mean it is a good ATTACKING Opening. albiet a lot of theory, but if you can get over that it is perfectly playable.

So what if it does, you are no where near capable of playing on Houdini's level. So what does it matter. You can't see 30 moves ahead.  Let me guess, you can put a square peg in a round whole if it is small enough...

The_Gavinator

That's not my point, no human plays at houdini's level, my point is that others were saying that the Parham always gives a draw with engine play, and they are trolls.

And CS, you keep talking about these lines, but I never see them. Funny how that works, isn't it? Please show me these good lines that I am certainly "ignoring".

gambiteer12

Why don't you post the line that the best engine in the world gave that is so crushing?

Houdini does not give a win for white with the parham, unless you happen to have it unplugged, or are running it on some computer that was made in 1900.

Ben_Dubuque

How bout the line that Joey posted where he would play for 25 K as Black that line was most certaintly better for Black yet you ignored it.

Ben_Dubuque

Gavinator, refuted

Parham, not quite

Bashing trolls, like taking an arrow to the knee

Ben_Dubuque

Somoli dued. how bout you take a look at our marine snipers.

The_Gavinator

How is the Parham refuted?

Ben_Dubuque

I didn't say it was refuted I said you were.

If the overall disadvantage is three pawns for a human to overcome, why waste two tempos and get yourself into a hole when there are far more viable options available? It makes no sense. Napoleon wasn't brilliant, no one plays his opening, but it is so similar to your beloved, why can't you see that, do you need a hair cut?

Sorry Didn't think it could be interprited that way I also didn't mean Navy snipers. I was talking about the youtube vids of The USMC Snipers in Afghanistan

I like Nf6, its a favorite move of mine to retort that Parham stupidity. It developes, attacks the queen and the pawn. He can't even make his bishop move next like he wants, because he already has to move his queen. In fact he might as well go ahead and move his queen back to his back rank. Thats two free tempos for me...thanks

Looks like black is in command in that game? It has central control...

The_Gavinator

In the mainline, white is up a pawn.
