I play it pretty often and when I play the lines correctly and I don't blunder away pieces, I win pretty good. It's solid.

Well, I don't play it anymore.  It is very useful if you want a draw.  Solid, yes.  Reliable, yes.  Often, the only way to win is to get an over-aggressive opponent.  One big reason to play it is its flexibility.  You can enter into 1. d4 lines or fiancetto the kingside bishop and play from there.  Does not require too much memorization.

1.c4 hardly turns the game into a drawfest, it's been used by some very fighting Grandmasters, Korchnoi and the (young) Botvinnik for examples.

Well, no it doesn't, but it is a good way to get one if you want one.

I wouldn't ever call it sharp though, and I think you wouldn't either.

There are some sharp lines, but as a nature the game is usually a bit closed, giving both players chance to develop their pieces and plans. Which usually means there are few early piece trades.
