    its called the moscow but really I think it should be called the accelerated rossolimo

     

    because the moscow should be a variation in the russian game, for clean organization purposes.

    oops but not white to move, didnt know the diagram woudl do that...

    anyway the rossolimo should be called the sicilian lopez and the moscow should be called the accelerated-sicilian-ruy-lopez-establishmentarianism.

     It can be after a move like 3.... Nc6 , yes. The main line of the Moscow attack runs 3....Bd7  4 Bxd7 Qxd7  though.


    I've been responding with 3...Nd7 but maybe I'll try Bd7 instead...  It's an odd little thing.

    the line has some bite. If you are seeing it a lot you might want to look at how to avoid getting a lost position, because there are various deceptive tricks in there.

    I knew it by the Moscow Variation, when I used to essay it out of fear of the Open Sicilian. Now that I have conquered my fear, I know it as both the Moscow Variation and Canal-Sokolsky Attack.
