How do you start the opening?

g3?  d4?  f4?

I sent you a challenge (unrated, I'm black, turn based so we can study it better) if you prefer to show me how you would go about playing this yourself

These are the 2 closest positions I know to it.

http://tiny.cc/LMjeH (3. e3 is honestly probably better)

I love this position. But show me any player who'll play Nc6-b8-c6-b8 while you're developing Laughing

The e4 square is a target for black to attack in this line of the birds. Black can do this by putting knights on f6 and e6. I have always had a good game against this set up. In saying that, you dont need too much opening prep to play this as white. Of course, you are not losing games because of the opening. There is nothing wrong with the set up for white, well, nothing serious enough to cause immediate defeat. Practice the middlegame positions that occur and look at how the masters play them. (use an online database if you dont have your own)

I believe this is a Dutch opening, is it not?  I try to use variations of it every time I play.
