I played a game against a player of almost equal ability.  This was the trap that they fell for.

y does white move his king out? there r 2 options for black to avoid this 1) Nd2 and 2) Bd2... I would go for 1 cuz it develops the knight to a decent square that lets it move to the king side. white could offer 2 trade bishops witch is probly better for the white because it helps him catch up in development after the trade Nxd2... this leaves white with a developed knight (same as black) and a much better control of the center...

But Ke2!! wins a piece.  Your alternatives do not win a piece.  Also check the analysis board for other variations

why would anyone play the alekhines defense if they dont know it well........?its beyond me. And why does white move his King???defeats every purpose of the game (development, safety of king, blocking movement/development). i do believe blacks ability is low.....

as i look at it morei see what the king move does but dont think its worth it.black still gets 2 pawns for the bishop or knight whichever he chooses and whitwe has a development problem.and black has counterplay on whites possible overextended pawns.

Ya like skept says, your up a point with development not even started... So your up a point with a horrible pawn structure and a horrible king position... Id give up a point to gain that against an opponent anyday.

First of all, you have space.  With his cramped position, Black cannot really do anything about White's King position.  Black has nothing developed so far.  White can castle by hand and develop his pieces to almost any square he wants.  If you have a computer program, run this position through it and see what it says.  I'm sure that White will be at least one and a half points ahead.

Castle by hand? thats alot of tempos needed 2 do that... and going by something ive heard 3 tempos=1 pawn or simplified 3 tempos=a point (of course do not go by this formula like its law, this is just in theory and was presented by a NM on this website who picked it up from somewhere else). Castling by hand will cost you that point and a half that you earned. I think the game is in blacks favor personaly... but thats just me, you might find this position more apealing then me.

Oh my God... White is winning. Deal with it. White has a huge space advantage. It may take several tempi to castle by hand, but it will take black several tempi to save his choice of knight or bishop. For those of you who say that White is only one point up, points are not hard and fast! It is much better to be up a piece for two pawns in the opening than to be up one pawn. And if White flanks his king bishop, he'll have no problems developing! Black does not have nearly enough compensation for the piece to have drawing chances. Black is lost. White has won. Not the other way around.

I believe trapping the bishop like that is called the "Noah's ark."  Nice work!  Winning a piece is always nice.

" I was thinking the same thing."

 great minds. . . .

I'd have played 5...Qh4 in a New York minute in a blitz game. In a standard game, I certainly would have studied it as a candidate move.

"black was wrong in putting his knight ouut first"

Alekhine's Defense is a common (and often deadly) opening for Black

This is called the Alekhine's Defense, but is disasterous if Black doesn't know it well.
