    I have only had one person play the Fishing Pole variation against me.  National Master Brian Wall (no relation) plays it a lot.  Here is my game against it.

    Usefull in blitz, outside blitz not so much. No one will fall for the trap unless you play against really non skilled opponents (around FIDE 1000 maybe). The problem I find with the trap is that it doesn't require white to ignore the situation, it requires white to actively achieve the mating position.
    But I have used this quite a lot in blitz. And with succes :D It's always satisfying.

    The fishing pole isn't all about the trap. Black's positional idea is to play on the kingside dark squares and defend e5. Here's a game of Brian Wall's:
