I think alot depends on some one deciding to exchange queens. If the game opens up quickly unexpecdedly, you have a long way to castle which would be essential to protect the king. I personaly don't like the early queen sac. Often gives rise to dull "logical" games, trading off. booo

in my experience, it is rare that white plays Cxd5 then on move 5 Nf3 if the French defence is played. Overall i dont think this variation will come into play unless done by new players to it. i use to play the French Defence alot (until i decided i needed to practise my kings opening as black) and i think it can be a very powerful opening...although it does leave black a little cramped if not played properly.

The exchange variation (3.exd5) is already a bad variation. 4.Qe2+ is just a terrible move. 4...Be7 and black has developed a piece while white has rather wasted a tempo. Already, at move 4, I think the most white can hope for is a draw.

Black has 4...Be7 giving a good game--this is in your annotations but not expanded.  After 4...Qe7, White should consider 5.Bg5: 5...f6 6.Be3; 5...Qxe7 6.Nxe2 (White will castle long).

Among other improvements one could suggest, after 7.g4, 7...Qxe2+ 8.Bxe2 Bxc2.  Therefore White would do better with 7.Nbc3.

It's great to see a young player wrestling with an opening as you are doing.  Keeping one's mind enquiring and one's judgment at bay are two virtues that fuel growth in chess.

It looks very boring to me. I would probably offer a draw on move 5 and go out for coffee.

Why would black play QE7 to block the check? Any sensible player would use the Bishop or Knight.

As black in this situation, I would definitely play 4. ... Be7 to block the check. Qe7 and Ne7 both block in the bishop, while Be7 develops it to a decent square. With Nf6 next move, black can be ready to castle on his 6th move, while white's queen is blocking in his own f1 bishop.

Well then the Bishop's DenizK gives Black a good game.

Yup. I read the note and saw that he listed it as a possibility. Given that it's the strongest possibility by far, I don't see why you'd even bother analyzing the results of the inferior move. 4. ... Be7 pretty much refutes white's 4th move.

Okay.  Go try playing it in a tournament.  I am sure that your opponent will play the line you want.  He will follow all of the unforcing and not necessarily best moves that you have laid out and will lose in 15 moves.  You sound like Bobby Fischer when he wrote the Bust to the King's Gambit.  "White can play differently, but then he will lose differently."  So are you the next Bobby Fischer???
