The Tarrasch french has the stamp of approval from former WC Karpov.......hard to get a better recommendation than that !

The tarrasch is a perfectly good system for white.

I play 3...Nf6

c5 and Be7 are also popular.

Tarrasch is perfectly fine, though I personally like to use the KIA when I see a french.

I would go for c5 Good opening anyway
