This is part of my repertoire as white as I like playing teh white side of teh giucco piano and the two knights defence but I used to simply take the f pawn with my knight, but I read somewhere that d4 is better even though everytime Itry teh latter I gain no advantag. Please explain how d4 is good coz otherwise I will revert back to Nxf7

if they take the pawn, the fried liver is the best.  (And don't go telling everyone on chess.com about it, sheesh.)

The fried liver gets a good attack against 5. ... Nxd5. But  6. d4 also gets a good attack. Notice that if black takes 6. ... exd4 then the e-file is opened which should make an attack against the king even easier. Why don't you share what lines black is playing against 6. d4 that are giving you a hard time?

haha indeed many people seem to fall for it so maybe Ill keeep it a little more hush hush.

seriosuly though, Ill give you some lines and each time a new problem comes up Ill post it here for you guys to solve.

The first three questions are what to do if black takes the pawn with exd4 what to do if balck advances the pawn with e4 and does he have any better options?

My book says if he advances the e pawn to sacrifice the knight on f7 but thats all it says as there is only one small page devoted to it

Anyone know where the name, "Fried Liver" for this line originated?

Judge: 8. ....Nb4 is the preferred line for black, threating a fork on c2.

I aggree, either knight to b4 or knight to e7 is blacks 8th move.  The winning move is apparently 6.d4 but I was hoping some of you can explain what to do after

1:6...exd4

 2:6...e4

3.Misc (my phone tends to play Bb4+)

This is the Lolli Attack (d4 instead of the knight sac) as I know it:

Black blunders early (but that's what the fried liver is all about) and most of the later moves are forced to avoid mate or losing decisive material.

The best move for black after white plays 6.d4 is 6...Bb4+ (provoking 7.c3 and thus taking that square away from whites knight). I dont know why black would play that line though since 5...Na5 promises black equality in a few moves.

the hell - I wilkes-barre the fried liver out of contention by play 4...Bc5 after above - even against prepared plyers i play wilkes-barre (traxler) because it is so combative - many lines are Rook Gambits :)

btw the wilkes-barre counterattack is also called the traxler.
