LOL at the "death gambit" ... How many wish their opponent would play like that :P ... and how about when he said he used to play the king's gambit when he was a " beginner" :P his rating is hardly over 1000 .. I consider myself a begginner ... and I am! ... That was funny stuff though

Just as I thought - another coward with nothing to say. Your writing "style" (or lack thereof) seems vaguely familiar. I wonder what other handles you've used in the past? The "i do not give free lessons" excuse seems to have been used many times in the past ....

Yes, I'm sure your message box will be full of messages from people willing to give you money after seeing the crap you're spouting. Cool

@ Cystem - Messages no doubt from the top players in the world as many of them continue to play the Benko and perhaps even more still play the Ruy/Marshall.Wink

I think the opponent a gambitteer fears most is the patient, calm, and steady player. GM Neil McDonald touched on this in his book "The Benko Gambit Revealed". He was writing about a particular line of the Benko (the Epishin variation) but I think it can be applied to many if not all gambits:

"The fianchetto [Epishin] variation doesn't win by force for White, but at the highest echelons of chess it has been scoring well. This is because players of that level know how to play perfect defensive chess as White for 20 or so moves (the word grovel comes to mind for some reason) and then suddenly switch to scintillating attacking play. Very few players can copy this style of play without going wrong at some point - they will either get the balance of attacking and defensive moves wrong, or lose control by making tactical oversights or strategical errors. Therefore, unless you are playing Kramnik tomorrow at Linares you don't have to be afraid of ..... [playing the Benko]."

    It's reportedly reputed
    The King's Gambit's been refuted
    I won't call them lies
    But I feel its demise
    Has been terribly miscomputed.

Benkobaby.. I had a fealing your rating was high by your intelligent comments... I was wondering if you wanted to play me in a turn-based game. I am sending the challenge now.

Will do - I'll send you a challenge. My rating is inflated because I've fattened myself on thematic tourneys and time outs - don't be impressed. It was too easy to score points on a system you know back to front. Still - happy to take on all those that think the Benko has a "refutation" Cool
