Lately I have been trying out the Gruenfeld (What's the keystroke for an U umlaut anyway?) and havn't had the greatest success with it. I just can't seem to get a feel for the opening. I make decent moves but I can't seem to make the sharpest or most correct moves in early mid-game. Any good illustrative games or introductions to the opening that show the key ideas associatiated with the open. Or anyone have a spare copy of Yelena Dembo's book on it you wouldn't mind shipping me? :)

the alt code in windows for ü is alt-0252.  Hold down the right alt key, and on the keypad press 2, then 5, and then 2, and release the alt key.  Look up alt codes, or get a program to do it for you (like the windows language bar) to find out what they all are (although I specifically have memorized ü)

I remember when I got this book called World Champion Openings from the library for a time, I read that if you want to play the grunfeld you should be careful because the center "can become a steamroller" and you must have good defensive technique to play it.

In any case, it takes time to get used to an opening. Do not give up, sooner or later the positions will become familiar to you and you will play the best moves more often.

The Grunfeld arises when black does  3. d5, it is a growth out of the K.I.D. which usually includes d6.

I am not a big fan of the Grunfeld.  I used to play it, but had terrible results with it.  The Grunfeld does not have a solid base, so you must really know what you are doing to play it.  That's why I switched to the Semi-Slav.
