I know there is the Reti but could someone point out some other good openings?

I want to use it as a surpirse at a U1300 tournement.

I really should win this easy considering i beat 1800's often using QGD/QGA with white.

If you can beat 1800s with QGD/A, why don't you want to go with that when facing someone who's not even 1300? Come to think of it, if you can beat 1800s, what are you doing in an U1300 tournament in the first place? You're not a sandbagger, I hope.

No im not a sandbagger, I just dont play them in rated games. The chess club i go to features a few 1800s and a 2100 who i have never played. Im rating is 990 but only because of 1 tournement.

I suggest memorizing the entire Opening Repertoire For White According to Kramnik series.

In an under 1300 tourny the only surprise will be if you guys don't start hanging pawns and pieces by move 6.

In an U-1300 tourney, EVERY opening is a surprise opening.  Confuse the opponent?  He's already confused, or will be soon - that's why he is in this section!

Seriously, you will win quickest if you play what you know best.  "Play the board, not the opponent!" is good advice.  It means you should play every game as if your opponent is the World Champion and this is the only game you will ever get to play him.

If you play the QG against your strongest opponents with success, why on earth would you even think of abandoning it against weaker players, especially for a gimmick you really don't know much about yourself?  The more you mess around in unfamiliar waters, the better the chance your fish will turn into a shark, even if by accident.  Go with what you know!

There's also the King's Indian Attack, instead of a Reti with c4 vs. ..d5, White prepares e4 with d3 and Nbd2.  One middlegame idea would be securing a space advantage with a later e5 push, which opens up Bg2 and Nbd2->e4, makes for some nice attacking prospects.
