FORUM MEMBERS, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OF A GOOD PAWN STRUCTURE THAT COULD BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SCOTCH OPENING? i am looking for added protection while developing or aftyer developement. would the stonewall be of any use in conjunction with this opening?

I don't know how you would set a stonewall formation after opening with the scotch. In the stonewall whites pawn's are on d4,e3,and f4, you can't reach that position if you play the scotch.

Tony, whether it's Scotch (pawn structure irrelevant), or Colle (relevant), the pawn structure is always at the back of our mind, moving our pawns (which can't go back) the right way. Pawns should work together, and usually you have better position when the pawns are in a chain. If you can avoid double-pawns or isolated pawns do so. I hope that helps a bit...
