The actual Halloween Gambit opening plays out as follows: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Nxe5.

Have you tried it? It would be cool with some games!

I programmed an opening book for my bot to play it online, and it never did lose with it, but some games were pretty close!

The problem is that I just don't play e4.  I used to, but not these days. :)

Has anyone played this in an OTB tourney game?  That would rock haha!

I would, if the 4 knights game came up.

I once played the Halloween Gambit in a blitz against Larry Evans and came out in an endgame where I had a rook, queen, and some pawns against a rook, queen, knight and some pawns. But the material was even because I had three more pawns than him. Then I blundered and lost my rook and resigned.

Every single move against a GM has to be unbelievably precise!  It is SO easy to lose a won game against an extremely strong player.  :)
