I am starting to adopt the sicilian dragon as black in my rep, does anyone know any training materials that would be good? i.e. books, youtube vids, online resources, ect. Preferably free. Thanks
Die hard Dragoneers still swear by Dearing's old Play the Dragon book.
...has always been a go-to source for a surprising amount of cutting-edge analysis on the Dragon. Additionally, loads of annotated play-through chessbase games, if you have the technology to view them.
Go to chessgames.com. On the home page choose the following three parameters:
Press <Find Chess Games>. You should get about 23 miniatures. Learn them all by heart before attempting to play the Dragon.
@EbenezerDrood thanks for the link I'll look into that
@IceBreaker95 could we play an unrated game?
can i be black?
I play it myself, because I have a hard time with the Najdorf, and it fits in with my blood and guts version of fun in chess
lol jet it does seem your style. However Im surprised that youd play a completely sound opening
what what is unsound about the KG, (ok I admit that the latvian is unsound, but only a wee bit lol) or maybe the Evan's gambit
lol i mostly ment the latvian, athough the Bc4 isnt 100% sound i think. correct me if im wrong, I dont know the KG very well. The evans is sound, ive used it myself, although I dont play the italian anymore and instead go for the spanish
I mean there is nothing wrong with it, its just it is a little off to most people hence why Nf3 is more popular.
yeah I have only played the lat once, not a good game, but a win is a win.
wanna play as Black in the dragon vs. me
sure. but i warn you tis dangerous if you dont know the lines. Lucky for you, im a dragon newbie!
I remember Pawn Structure Chess having a good section on the dragon structure. I can't remember any of it but it was good stuff...
I play the Accelerated Dragon. I would recommend Dzindzichashvili, Alburt, and Perelshtyn's book Chess Openings for Black, Explained. Also, Greet's book Starting out: The Accelerated Dragon. The advantage of the Accelerated Dragon over the regular Dragon is that black does not play an early d6, so later he can play d5 in one move, which is the answer to the Yugoslav Attack. I have a very high win rate with the Accelerated Dragon.
i will look into that thanks bishopson
here is a game between CS007 and me with some commentary
wasnt much of a game because of the dual blunder
i thought you noticed during the game but according to the commetary you didnt, but for a lot of the time I was trying to close a net around your knight on d4 and win it by d5, which you prevented with your f4 move
well I knew you were going to target it after your queen came to c7, I just thought it was to move it out of the way
it was after the fact, but the reason I locked up the queenside intead of opening the a file, which probably would have been better, was to take away ur knights only flight square
yeah I know I was multitasking during that game
