Hilarious and Extremely Fun Variation in the Wing Gambit

I remember I saw this line a while ago on a forum, I can't remember where.  I've been meaning to play it ever since, it is objectively terrible but looks like a massive amount of fun for club players, perhaps somewhat in the vein of the Halloween gambit.  For anyone looking for something that will give Sicilian players nightmares, here you go.

The exchange and a pawn down for a small advantage in development?  Don't think Sicilian players will be quaking in their boots just yet.  I like the wing gambit in blitz though.

It's a little more than a small advantage in development, keep in mind that black will have difficulty castling.  According to Houdini white does have a fair bit of compensation, it only gives black a bit over a +1 advantage.  Which, at my level anyway, is certainly not close to winning.

also black loses his bad bishop

Ne7 probably solves the castling problem.  Backward D pawn might be a bit tricky.  I'd still prefer black here though.

I probably wouldn't be game to try this in a long game, but in blitz and bullet definitely.

i thought d6 and then bishop e6 would be best continuation for black..

anyway i think houdini is clearly nuts, black is strategically winning i would assume. But then again there is a reason im a patzer and houdini is the giant killer.

I said Houdini gives black an advantage that is winning with best play, however it's significantly less than the point value of the material.  In other words, white does have significant compensation, not enough to make the opening objectively any good, but enough to make it playable if you're willing to take the risk.

Indeed.  I might give it a go sometime - I like openings like this.

anyway for a patzer like me it also looks better then plus 1 for black.

Nice that you showed you idea though

hmm, probably should mention that I didn't actually come up with the idea, but I can't give credit because I don't remember where I saw it.
