The mathematical questions this board raises hurt my mind. Ouch.

I'm for it, lets play that instead of chess on this site. 

If the pieces move exactly the same way, bishops would dominate rooks and knights on a hex board, because there's no longer an option to move directly left or right, and moving diagonally it's possible to touch every square. Allowing rooks to "jump" directly left and right would partially restore the balance.

Shouldn't the hexagons be in alternating colors? 

Are they not? Also if you reduce it to two colours then it will go all funny.

Iv actualy tryd this game, horses are superb in battel in hexa-chess.

I played "hexagonal chess" when I was young. The rules are easy. It is hard to play, but not more than normal chess...
