When you start a game of chess,
it is vital that you know what are the first moves you will play.
Look at those beginners,
and you'll see them randomly moving pawns and pieces in the opening
with no clear objective;
I have sufficient reason to believe that they underestimate
the importance of the opening.
If you do not know what are the first steps you will make in the opening,
then that is just like living life with no aim.
For example, one who does nothing but draw at an early age is likely to become a successful artist.
One who is great at chess and loves it at an early age can be a Grandmaster when he reaches the age of 25.
What you do and think in your early childhood years affect your whole course of your life,
just,
like,
chess.
It is therefore essential that you know your opening. And that you get to be the best in it. Know what you will play, and make sure it leads to the positions that you want to play
~~~translation: Make sure you get the most out of your childhood years and be sure that this is the way you want it to be, that this will lead to the life you truly want, and will truly enjoy. That you will, in the end, achieve self-actualization ( google it if you aren't sure what it means).~~~
I know what opening I want to play.
And when I start a game of chess,
I choose to play that opening
even though I have the freedom of choosing other openings.
This is because I am satisfied with the chess positions which arise from it.
(Translation: This is because I know what I truly want in life and I am happy enough to relive it again although many would, if given the chance, choose to live other lives.)
That's some great advice. Make the most of your childhood years. Now if only I could go back and relive them...
Seriously? That just came out of my brain. I'm only 15 and I don't know what I'm going to be when I grow up. Do motivation speakers make a living? (You know, those who go up stage and give motivation speeches)
