A way for white to avoid the KID is 1. d4. Nf6. 2 g3. g6. 3 Bg2. Bg7. 4 e4. d6. 5 Nc3. 0-0. 6 Nge2 (Pirc). Black can look for a Grünfeld with 3... d5, a Benoni-like with 2... c5 or a Catalan with 2... d5, but the KID is avoided (Mednis). Playing only one defense can be dangerous.
How to play the KID against d4?
So i guess i should study Pirc then? However, i noticed that with c4 white has weakened the a1-h8 diagonal, while in the Pirc white can play c2-c3 and blunt the g7 bishop. Does it make sone trouble for black?
Oh youre quite right there, thanks. I'll definitely going to try that later on. By the way, why is KID much more popular than Pirc?
White is not forced to play Nc3 in the Pirc :
1. e4 d6 2. d4 Nf6 3. Bd3 e5 4. c3
1. e4 d6 2. d4 Nf6 3. f3 c5 4. c3, transposing into Sveshnikov's 1. e4 c5 2. c3 d6 3. d4 Nf6 4. f3!, a very interesting try for advantage in this line.
Oh yeaa, i guess Pirc is not so popular due to the Sicilian, Ruy Lopez, Two Knights, French, Caro, and Scandinavian. Am i right there?
Yelena Dembo wrote a nice book about dealing these "anti-kingsindians" called "Fighting the anti-kingsindians". Earlier Gallagher wrote a book with similar aim. It's not necessary to play pirc, if don't want to.
Of course white can't force any opening, but can avoid the KID, wich is a problem for black if it doesn't play any other defense and white is ok with the alternatives.
Another idea (which I myself play) would be to play a slightly different move order that allows the option of developing Bc8 either to g4 or f5 (like the Janowski Old Indian to inhibit an early e4 by white) such as 1. d4 Nf6 2. Nf3 d6

I really love the KID. however, after 1. d4 Nf6 2. Nf3 g6 white soon forces black to transpose to the Pirc which is much more uncomfortable for black. (For you guys who doesnt know the difference between KID and Pirc, it relies on whether White plays c4 or not). I guess Nf3 is some sort of waiting move to avoid KID? I'm searching for a waiting move for black too, however, I cant find anything good. Can anyone (playing KID) give a suggestion about what should I do after 1. d4 Nf6 2. Nf3 ?
