i've been trying new things (new to me) like this for a while,  but most end up being bad ideas...  This one seems to work out pretty well though?  i can't tell if its really going anywhere... but i get my main pawn center up at least...

Interesting idea but I question this type of opening.

After Nxb4, I would play d4. There is a similar gambit for black against the Reti: 1. Nf3 g5.

yeah... thats what im seeing was my mistake here...  d4 would be best...   no use wasting time attacking the knight and sending it back to its fine post

This is a bad idea.

The popular gambits gain tempo and open lines for attack. This gains tempo and sets up a big center, but your pieces are rather blocked in. Also, black will have no problem fighting back in the center with an array of pawn thrusts.

It is a very good idea to keep experimenting, though. This will help you to understand openings a lot better.
