The Ukulele Opening is based on the three chords of D major - DFG.

Like the Ukulele it is gentle and invites participation, however it is not to be taken lightly.

The usual moves are 1 d3 e5  2 g3 d5 on Game Explorer this gives 50% wins for white. However, the next move 3 a3... is outside the experience of Game Explorer.

It can also be played a defence for black.

So far I have a 100% record with it(one game).

If you want to unhinge your opponent even further you could play the ukulele while your opponent is thinking.

There are many songs with this chord progression, such as:- King of the Road, La Bamba...and of course - Tie Me Kangaroo Down.

cheers

Oops..the chords of D are not DFG but D G A as is illustrated in the opening. I seem to have involved the three chords key of C major - CFG. That, however, doesn't look as good, though as it opens up the king side.

The chords of G major look not too bad - G C D..say 1g3....2c4....3d4    almost a version of the English.

The key of A also looks not too bad - A D E starting with a mind boggling a3.

Take it to the club and I am sure there will be plenty of craic. Too many chess players get hung up on winning when there is more fun in losing and taking the piss...it's only a game...with exceptions.

cheers

what about the notes in the chords? And why do you always pick the IV and V chords? what about 2-5-1? Or triadic pairs of a different mode than Ionian? And your "chords of G-major" outline the catalan opening. What about 'rhythm changes' (from the song "I've Got Rhythm") with the pattern I-vi-ii-V-iii-VI, etc? Or the Cycle of fourths?

It's not my interest in music that makes me weird. It's that you said I was weird that makes true

Actually, your Ukulele opening of DFG would make more musical sense if it were the first inversion of a Bb Major chord with the added major sixth, Bb-D-F-G.  We called this chord the "Hawaiian sixth" in school, as distinct from the German, Italian, and French, which are augmented sixth chords.

Throw some inversions in there to mix it up every once in a while; that'll keep your opponet guessing.
