KG games are so fickle.  Razor sharp lines.  A million tactics to hold in mind at once.  Love it!  lol 

This is another game I recently played as white.  20 + 0 time controls.  The advantages of this game seesawed from white to black to white in as little as 2 or 3 moves.  Fun!

g4 is a mistake white usually develops another piece, sacing his knigh so it doubles on the f-file with his rook.

g5-g4 were 2 wasted tempi

@batgirl - would have been interesting to play on after that.  Both sides are vulnerable and under time/sharp line pressure.  Thanks for pointing that out.  :)

@yousef213 - yeah, I encounter Bg4 a lot, which under "normal" game standards is a sound way to pin the queen, but in KG helps white to open the f-file.  That's why I love KG -- at my level, the tactics are flying all over the place.

Qg5?  Good point.  I thing s/he wanted me to exchange Q's.  Maybe better was Raf8. ??

Ah I see.  yep, most anything to open up the f-file is fine by me (as white).

Bc5 ruins the fun,no  lol.  I usually play Nf3 next.  Sometimes the games evolve silently into white & black 0-0-0, believe it or not.

Bc5 isn't so bad. Basically it puts you in a position where ideas are more important than tactical shots. Knowing when f5 is good or bad and knowing the right time to play your knight to a4 and bag the bishop are basic things but they're really important.

I welcome your comments, actually.  I don't know "a Schaefer."  I doubt I'm an 1800 at KG, I just play it because it's fun.

They're fast games with sharp lines.  The more lines I can rule out, the better.  :)

I'm not sure how to play KGA when I play 1. ...c5 (Sicilian). [See my previous game]  I figure the long diagonals that open up and aim at white's king lead to good things.  Maybe there's a better way.  ?

the best way to beat the kings gambit or ruy lopez for that matter is to play 1.e4 c5 or 1. e4 c6

 Yup! 12...Nd4 is indeed strong. But after 13.e5 white gets some counterplay. I sensed ole' Kieseritzky was having an off-day, so I wanted to have some fun with 12...Nb4.
