Kings gambit opening

I have created a tournament for players who play the kings gambit.

But I would just like to talk about the kings gambit... what do you think thbe best return to 1. e4 e5 2. f4 Bc5?

that's the gambit declined right?  3...Nf6 is the best respons.

No, not the declined, it is called the classical variation but technically it is declined!

In all seriousness though, that is pretty annoying. I've always liked the King's Gambit. Frown

Fischer wrote this article after Spassky defeated him using the King's Gambit. Bobby used to make lots exaggerated statements like this one. They generally weren't true. =)

As for the KG, I don't like to employ it.

When facing it as black I usually play the Falkbeer counter-gambit.

In all seriousness though, that is pretty annoying. I've always liked the King's Gambit. 


That article is why I started playing the KGA Bishop's Gambit.  Its a very flexible opening and inexperienced blakc players often overextend themselves.  The white player just has to be confortable with playing positions where he does not castle.  Take a look at it, even Fischer played it on occasion.
