King's Indian, Gligoric
Sort:
Bumping thread, I'm looking for a good system vs the KID as a newly developing d4 player, and this one looks pretty appealing..
The idea of the system is that by postponing castling and playing Be3 white:
- Is faster in his attack on the queenside where white is stronger (Be3 prepares c5 better than 0-0)
- The standard black plan in the kingindian of playing the attack with some knight moves and then the pawnstorm on the kingside does not work since in that case white is not going to castle in the storm but leaves his king in the center (that is ofcourse savely blocked) and easily stops the attack.
Of course live is not that simple and most black players are prepared for this and play one of the systems that leads to an approx equal game like Ng4.
What are the different main Black responses in the King's Indian Defense, Gligoric Variation? (1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 d6 5. Nf3 0-0 6. Be2 e5 7. Be3)
Thanks in advance,
