As white, I have always taken the Abrahams-Noteboom head on. I have noticed many players avoid it. Should I avoid it?

Should you avoid it? No, not necessarily.
My database shows that after black enters the triangle, the second knight move is the most popular choice at the GM level, openly inviting the Noteboom.
It IS a good defense for black, but it's certainly not a death sentence for white. If you have good results against it, understand the positions, and enjoy the games, why avoid it? If it's giving you trouble, then sure...head towards a Meran or a Marshall or whatever.
