I play the sicilian. A lot of people on this site will, as white, play 2 Bc4, and I cannot find literature on the move anywhere.  It does not usually give me a lot of trouble, but the lack of literature on it makes me think that it is a very poor move.  Does anyone out there know what an "established" black response might be?

I dont know about the literature on 2Bc4 in the sicilian but I checked chess assistant and it has over 1500 games with that second move. However, white only scored 32% with it so it cant be good.

After 2Bc4 in the sicilian the top 3 responses were 2....d6,e6,Nc6 with all 3 scoring over 65% for black. What more can black ask for?

thanks Reb!  I've tried all three, and I think I like Nc6 the best.

I play the hyper acc version and n-c6 is my move of choice when I see this.  Threatening to trade off the knight for bishop if they do something silly like bring the queen out to f3 among other things.  It is really pretty simple to play against.
