In conclusion, Qf1 was the wrong move... but even if they played something better than that, they still lost 2 pawns and have a much better position with a strong attack!

I guess it wouldn't cause so much a trouble for white if he didn't move 7. Bg5

yes, that is why, 11. Bb3 is much safer :) although white still loses the queen Tongue out

I don't play this Scotch game (3.d4) anymore, but remember playing 5.Nb3 as a better and active move, instead of giving up the Nd4.  I think that's the start of the problems.

Scotch was popular only in the years 1825-1850, nowadays it is played as a gambit and as a surprise for the not-knowing black opponent.

RomyGer, it was pretty popular in the 1990s as well when Kasparov used the Scotch in his World Championship match with Karpov

mhchess13 - this is a very standard trap but still nice game! But d5 doesn't win the queen unless he moves his Bishop to a bad square. However Black is totally winning way before that.

BTW, the wrong move was Bg5

Nice game. After Bc5 white is in the defense. Nb3, Bd3, castling and Bc3 would be more appropriate. I enjoy the subtile way how black punished whites mistakes.

Expertise87-  I agree with "But d5 doesn't win the queen unless he moves his Bishop to a bad square" like Bd3.... but white can always go Bb3, just like what Roeczak has said, so probably mhchess13, u should change your annotations a bit :), just to be on the safe side.

And please challenge me if anyone are interested, both live and online correspondence chess is fine :D.
