1... c5 is the best response and also my fave, but I also like the icelandic gambit

I've triend 1.... c5,c6,nf6, g6, d6, e6 ,b6, e5, probably tried all pawns, especially against kids on my team...

 

c5, nf6 seem to work best for me

I've used e5 when i began chess and then turned to nf6 and i'm now back at e5Sealed

I almost always play 1... e6 the French defence against 1.e4 .. players who prefer closed games will love the French defence

aaaah good old reliable french! Was so sick of it but my last tournament rekindled my love for the first opening i learnt!
