Queen's Gambit or Spain Opening?
For u what opening is better?
Thanks!

When you decide to play Queens Gambit or the Spanish I recommend you the Queens Gambit. Why? The probability is by the Queens Gambit higher that you can play it. when you play the Spanish, you often cannot play the Spanish because black mostly answers with e6 c6 c5 etc. A lot of openings. All in all rarely you can play the Spanish because black doesnt answer with e5. and when he answers with e5 this couldnt be a spanish because he can play the petroff defense. you need in both openings positional understanding.

It's a lot easier to play the Spanish than the Queen's Gambit.  Everyone plays Nimzo, KID or (Semi-)Slav vs d4. There's plenty of e5 players.

I don't understand how these openings can be pitted against one another. One is a defence against the Queen's pawn opening and one is a defence against the King's pawn opening. You can play both, neither, or just one.

If however, what you actually meant to ask was if e4 or d4 are better then maybe you should learn to speak English and/or play chess. You shouldn't ask which White first move is best because that would be completely moronic, but I suspect that this is what you meant none the less. I mean, it does make more sense than what you actually asked...

I know Im a few years late to the party but here it is. Its actually a good question. Spanish game will depend on black's responses so it is mostly hard to get to the game. Unless you are a beginner, blacks answer to e4 is c5 (Sicilian) which locks the game into one of blacks variation. And if black knows his Sicilian,  its mostly game over (Unless you are a GM or an Engine). That is why statistically speaking, white has more control over his/her opening repertoire  via the d4 opening.

d4 gives black limited options than e4 does. For instance, via e4, black can go French (6+ variations), Caro-Kann (10+ variations), Sicilian (14+ variations), Alekhine (3+ variations), Pirc (2+ variations), Gambits like Scandinavian/Latvian and Elephant, ... This is just from the top of my head. d4 gives you way more less theory to worry about like for an intermediate to advanced U1800, all you have to prepare against is Gambit (Accepted or Declined), the Slav, the Semi-Slav and one of my favorites, The King's Indian.

Hope this helped. Cheers.
