Couldnt black do 4...Be7? I think that would completely stop it. Still get a queen trade out of it though?
really cool opening...white gets queen
3....Qe7 4.Qxe4...d6
There's a lot of ways to avoid this but it's still a nice pattern to know.
Btw 4...Be7 loses to 5.Nxd8
Couple problems with this. People aren't going to leave their central pawn undefended. Almost always, Black will play Nc6 to defend his pawn.
Another problem is that Black will usually just get to trade Queens and at worst, not be able to Castle.
Well, I think all offensive openings can be avoided somehow...until a certain point. If black didn't see it coming they would be stuck in the trap by like the 3rd or 4th move. I see what you mean though, everyone.
If anyone wants more openings the book Chess for Juniors has a lot...the kid-ish title is rather deceiving, they do have some good openings in there. Pretty sure that's where I found this one.
I hope you like this opening...it's really nice. A huge advantage for white. You don't have to "do the puzzle" if you don't want to, just click on "help" to get the next move.
